Large double-sided pillow platter made of beautiful ebonized sapele. Ebonization is a technique that uses a homemade iron acetate solution to permanently stain wood fiber. This process had a magical effect on this piece of sapele; in addition to darkening it, it also brought out the brilliant red-gold grain, allowing a subtle shimmer amongst the darker grain. This piece is preserved in a food-safe finish, allowing it to be used for food items or simply to display precious objects.
